Your trusted local partner in the heart of the Himalayas
Himalayan Quests (HQ) is a Nepali organisation composed of outdoors professionals, people who grew up in these mountains, rafted these rivers and have spent careers mastering every facet of travel in Nepal. We pair unparalleled destination knowledge with international service standards, operating with complete transparency: no hidden costs, no middlemen, no surprises. When your clients travel with HQ, they communicate directly with the owners and so do you.
As a registered member of TAAN (Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal) and a member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), Himalayan Quests adheres to the highest professional and ethical standards in the industry. Our sister NGO, Himalayan Quests Foundation, actively supports rural communities through health and education programmes meaning every trip you send us contributes to meaningful, grassroots change in Nepal.
Six reasons our partners keep coming back
Unrivalled Local Expertise
Founded and led by a Nepali outdoors professional with international accreditations, supported by our team holds knowledge of Nepal's landscapes, cultures, and logistics that no outsider can replicate. We go beyond the classic routes to curate genuinely hidden experiences.
Fully Bespoke Itineraries
Every programme is created from scratch to match your company’s interests, timeframe. From cultural immersion to a multi-week high-altitude expedition or an educational travel journey, and anything in between, we craft it precisely.
Direct Owner Communication
You deal directly with Amrit and Kate Ale, the founders and not a sales team. This means faster responses, greater accountability, and the confidence that your clients are in expert hands from the first enquiry to the final farewell.
Transparent, Competitive Pricing
We believe in honest business. Our pricing is clear, competitive, and there are never unexplained extras. You receive clean, easy-to-present costings that make your own proposals straightforward and trustworthy to your clients.
Responsible Travel Ethics
Sustainability is not a marketing tick-box at HQ, it is embedded in how we operate. We ensure fair wages, ethical treatment of guides and porters, minimal environmental impact, and active community-focused initiatives. Partners aligned with responsible travel values will find a natural home with us.
Safety-First, Always
Every HQ programme is planned with rigorous safety protocols backed by formal wilderness medicine and rescue training at the highest international standard. Throughout Nepal, safety is not a checklist; it is our culture, and it starts at the top.
LEADERSHIP YOU CAN TRUST

Amrit Ale
Director and Co-FounderAmrit Ale grew up in the foothills west of Pokhara, exploring ridgelines on foot and navigating the Aadhi Khola River while he was still in school. After joining the family adventure sports business, his hunger for deeper expertise took him to the USA on a scholarship, where he qualified as a NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) instructor, leading expeditions across the Rocky Mountains and the Himalayas.
In 2009 he co-founded Himalayan Quests, began instructing for experiential learning company Where There Be Dragons, and started volunteering annually as an ice climbing instructor at the Khumbu Climbing Centre (KCC)in Phortse, training high-altitude Sherpas ahead of the Everest season. By 2019 he was appointed Executive Director of the KCC, leading its transition to an all-Nepali management team. That same year, he joined the National Geographic Perpetual Planet Expedition on Everest, a scientific mission documenting climate change in the Himalaya.
In 2016, selected from the KCC instructor pool, he volunteered with the U.S. National Parks Service at Denali and Yosemite, summiting Denali in the process. In 2021, he was personally invited by expedition leader Phil Henderson to join the Full Circle Everest Expedition as liaison officer and official photographer. He is a qualified Wilderness Emergency Medicine Technician (WEMT) and Wilderness First Aid Instructor (SOLO), and founded the Himalayan Quests Foundation in 2015 to deliver rural health and education programmes across Nepal.
For partners, this matters: your clients are placed in the care of one of Nepal’s most experienced outdoor professionals, someone personally involved in overseeing every programme HQ delivers while maintaining the company’s responsible travel ethics.

Kate Ale
Co-Founder & Operations DirectorBorn in Germany and raised in the UK, Kate came to Nepal in 2002 as the first stop on a planned six-month trip and never quite left. Captivated by the country’s beauty and culture, she returned eighteen months later, resigning from a decade-long career as a Project Manager in international events management to volunteer as a teacher. By 2004, Nepal was home.
Kate brings deep operational expertise to Himalayan Quests, overseeing the logistics and organisational backbone that ensure every programme runs seamlessly. With hands on experience of running a small Nepal grassroots not-for-profit, she also leads the Himalayan Quests Foundation, directing its community-focused health and education initiatives in rural Nepal, work she approaches with the same rigour and passion she once applied to managing global events.
Two decades after that first visit, Kate remains as inspired by Nepal as ever, particularly through the eyes of visitors experiencing the country for the very first time.
