Perched dramatically on a cliff face approximately 900 metres above the Paro Valley, Tiger’s Nest is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in Bhutan and among the most spectacular monasteries in the world. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a flying tigress and meditated in a cave that remains part of the monastery complex today.
The hike to Tiger’s Nest is one of Bhutan’s most rewarding experiences, offering spectacular views throughout the ascent. Ponies are available for hire for the first section of the trail, although the final approach must be completed on foot.
After descending from the monastery, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples. Dating back to the 7th century, this revered temple is an important pilgrimage site and a beautiful example of early Himalayan Buddhist architecture.
This evening, gather for a farewell dinner and celebrate the conclusion of your Bhutan adventure. Overnight in Paro.
