Saroj Ale
Guide
Born in mid hills of Nepal west of Pokhara, Saroj moved from the village to Kathmandu to become a river guide in 2006, having spent much of his childhood playing in the rapids of the Aadi Khola.
In 2010 he joined us at HQ as a trainee guide to expand his skills set and as a way to fulfill his passion for the mountains, whilst continuing to raft guide in Japan and India during the off seasons. He is now one of our lead guides and is wilderness first aid and swift water rescue certified.
After all his years on the river, he is an amazing cook and he loves to sing and play the madal (a traditional Nepali drum) and is always one of the first up on the dance floor. He is married with a beautiful, spirited young daughter, Chitra-Kala and splits his time between his home village, the mountains and rivers.
