Pasang Sherpa, Guide
Pasang was born with the mountains in his blood. A native of Khumbu, he was born and brought up in a family whose background is high altitude climbing and mountaineering, his father having summited six of the 8,000+m peaks multiple times during his 40-year mountaineering career. He completed his education to SLC level (class 10) at a local government school and then followed his father into the mountains. Starting as a porter/kitchen boy, he worked his way up to assistant guide within 3 years, gaining his full guide license in 2007. He is now one of our most senior guides.
In 2013 Pasang joined the Khumbu Climbing Center (KCC) for their beginner’s mountaineering/ice climbing training course, moving up to the advanced course in 2014 where he finished first on the course and was thus invited back to work as an ice climbing instructor from 2015 onwards. In 2020 he was awarded a scholarship by KCC to spend three months in the USA volunteering alongside the national park’s Rescue/Climbing Rangers in Denali, Yosemite, and the Grand Teton National Parks.
Alongside his KCC training, he has done further mountaineering training with the Nepal Mountaineering Association and is also wilderness first aid certified.
When not in the mountains Pasang lives in Kathmandu with his wife who is a nurse and his beautiful little daughter, Kesang, who is a true daddy’s girl.
