Dawa Yangzum was born in Rolwaling Na village (4200m) in the shadow of Mount Gaurishankar. The valley her village is nestled in, is home to more than 70 Everest summiteers and it was their tales of the mountains that inspired her to start climbing and developed her passion for the outdoors. She started trekking in 2007 and worked on her first expedition in 2011, an all female summit attempt on Amadablam.

She was also part of the Nepal-Bangladesh Friendship Peak 1st ascent on Chiki-Go, a technical peak of 6225m, and was a summiteer on world renowned American mountaineer, Conrad Anchor’s successful Everest expedition in May 2012. In the summer of 2014 Dawa Yangzum successfully submitted Pakistan’s K2 as part of a team of 3 Nepali female mountaineers.
