As the saying goes, it’s been a minute since we wrote our last update. This year has flown by and as we write this listening to Christmas carols drifting through the window from a local nursery school, we can’t quite believe 2023 is just around the corner.
In our last newsletter we were wishing Amrit and the Full Circle Everest team a safe and successful expedition as they were getting ready to depart for the mountains. For those that don’t follow us on social media, the expedition was a huge success with 7 of the 9 international team members reaching the summit on the 12th May, along with Amrit and 7 other Nepali team members. This historic expedition took the number of international people of colour who have reached the top of the highest mountain in the world to 17, almost doubling the previous number, but still a drop in the ocean of the thousands who have successfully climbed the mountain. The awareness and inspiration this brought and continues to bring to Black and Brown communities around the world, but especially within the USA, is a legacy that will keep on giving, as this historic expedition inspires the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts, educators, leaders, and mountaineers of colour to continue chasing their personal summits, whatever and wherever they may be.
Over and above Amrit’s expedition, we have been lucky that we have had a busy and successful year as the world cautiously reopened post Covid. Despite the monsoon lasting into mid-October and causing extensive damage to trails in some areas, resulting in last minute plan changes for some of treks, all of our clients had the most amazing time in the mountains and were rewarded with fantastic weather and spectacular views.
A Himalayan thank you to everyone who made this year so successful, our clients, our suppliers and especially our amazing crew, who always go that extra mile to ensure everyone has the best time possible.
With the end of the autumn season, we are now enjoying a little bit of down time before the spring season is upon us and we welcome back old friends and introduce the wonders of the Nepali Himalayas to new ones.
Wishing everyone Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and a prosperous, peaceful and joyous New Year.
